Tesla - The Nintendo Switch Overlay Menu

Tesla (and Ultrahand) is a simple overlay menu that can be opened at any time while using HOS. It lets you use available homebrew quickly, even while playing a game.
When the overlay is opened, it will list all overlay modules (.ovl files) in /switch/.overlays (the .ovl are plain old .nro files renamed to .ovl to differentiate them from normal homebrew)

Step 1 - Files you need

For the overlay menu to function, you need 2 elements. The nx-ovlloader system module and the menu that shows available overlay modules.

Required files. (On GitHub scroll down and find the file under Assets)

• nx-ovlloader - Download nx-ovlloader.zip
• Tesla-menu - Download ovlmenu.ovl

If you want to use Ultrahand instead of Tesla-menu, get Ultrahand's ovlmenu.ovl instead of Tesla-menu. Read more about Ultrahand's features on its GitHub page.

Step 2 - Add required files

1. On the micro SD card, open the switch folder and create .overlays if it does not already exist.
2. Copy ovlmenu.ovl to /switch/.overlays/ on the micro SD card.
3. Extract nx-ovlloader.zip to the root of your SD card, and say yes to merge/overwrite when asked.

Step 3 - Utilisation

See the list of overlay modules below and add whichever ones you want as per their instructions.

Once the main files and desired modules are copied correctly to the SD card, and the console has been restarted:
Open the Tesla-menu by pushing these 3 buttons at the same time:

• L, D-pad down (▼) and R3 (right analogue stick)

Ultrahand has an additional button combo to open the overlay menu:

• ZL + ZR + D-pad down (▼)

Ultrahand can also use custom Ultrahand packages. Find a list of available packages here.

  • You can click A to execute any command as well as click - to view/execute the individual command lines written in the ini for execution.
  • You can click + on the main menu to enter the settings menu.
  • You can click X on top of an overlay/package to star them.
  • You can click Y on top of an overlay/package to configure additional settings.
